The Municipality of Kavarna, situated in the county of Dobrich, is a centre of the Dobrudzha coastline of the Black Sea, and the town of Kavarna itself is an exceptionally clean and welcoming town which has preserved its authentic appearance even in today's resort hysteria. It has a unique natural potential which is crucial for its social-economic aspect and development prospects. A large part of the territory (over 75%) is occupied by fertile arable land. The picturesque coastline of Kavarna is 42 km. It is slightly indented and there are small beaches along it.

Cape Kaliakra is located at 12 km on the east from the town of Kavarna and 60 km on the north-east from the city of Varna. It consists of limestone and conglomerates and is strewn with lots of caves. The rocks are a protected territory and a sea-bird sanctuary. The coast is steep, with vertical cliffs going 70 metres down to the sea.
